Something Disturbing

Two headlines have come to my attention in the last couple of months and both of them I found to be very disconcerting.  First I heard of a male teacher who was standing right next to a swing set while monitoring a grade school play ground. Now this by itself I figure is a pretty normal and very acceptable thing to do.  The bizarre thing is while he was standing there he watched a girl fall off the swing set right next to him. She did receive some minor injuries but was mainly just very shaken up from the fall.  The teacher was later asked what happened and he basically just told them the truth "she fell off the swing." The sad thing is, he also stated that he was within a few feet of the girl when she fell. He told the council that he could have saved her from hurting herself but was to afraid of touching her to save her.  The council replied by saying that "under those circumstances he had done the right thing."   All I have to say is, come on people, what kind of world are we creating for our children.  Will it come to the point where we can't even show our children signs of affection without someone implying that there is more going on behind the scenes. The truth is these implications are all ready being made.  I find that very sad.  Who will raise our children in the future if we take the power to show children love away from the parents.  Wait I know, lets have the government raise them I'm sure the state can teach them all that they need to know.  Sounds like a "Brave new world."

Ok now for the second one. This one is a little juicier so braise yourself.  The crime scene was a school bus. Lets just use generic names for the sake of the individuals involved. We'll call the boy Bob and the girl Betty.  All right Bob gets on the bus first and then a few stops later Betty gets on the bus.  Here's the juicy part, as Betty strolls past Bob looking for a seat, Bob slaps Betty's butt. While Betty probably didn't enjoy the slap she did nothing about.  However a teacher witnesses Bob slapping Betty's butt and reports him to the police. The teacher claims that "the boy was demonstrating signs of a behavioral problem that needed to be dealt with."  So neither Betty or her parents want to press charges the both stated that it was "merely and innocent slap on the butt, the kind of thing that guys, around bobs age have been doing to girls for along time. and that it was just part of growing up."   Well the teacher didn't like that so she went ahead and prosecuted Bob for his actions. Last I heard Bob is facing a possible sentence of up to three years in jail for sexual assault.  In no shape or form am I saying what Bob did was acceptable.  I will say though he is just a kid and we should be careful how we make him see himself.

If any of you have more information of these two headlines please let me know.  I am also very interested in what you think about this and where are country is going.  For now peace and happy new year.
