What are bullies thinking

Thought of the day:  Question. What are bullies thinking, or are they even thinking. How can they get so much pleasure out of someone else's pain?  I have a few question for all the bullies out there. Do you like pain? Do you like getting hurt? Does it make you feel good? If yes, then you need help and more then any psychologist can provide. In my opinion we should really send you to Mars. If you don't like pain then why is it that you like giving others pain.                                      -----I think criminals should be dealt with in a manner similar to what was portrayed in Clock Work Orange.  The guilty member should be forced to experience what ever it was that they did from the reverse point of view. For a bully, I recommend sticking' the individual into a very realistic virtual reality machine. In this machine the individual should get bullied around until they start to cry. hehehehe.  If it happens again then bully them around again. ---Just a thought. A famous philosopher once said that we must take our principal and make it into a common rule to live by thus applying it universally.  If that  principal does not work as a universal rule then don't live by it, unless you want everyone else to live by it. Can any of you tell me who this philosopher was?

Response by Fwuego: I guess the real question it seems to me is how are we going to define what is wrong? Let alone what constitutes being a criminal. Some would have us believe that we were born wrong because we have inherited sins of Adam and Eve. Now if we were to experience the opposite of our sinful nature because we are forced to experience that which is opposite to that which is bad then doesn't it follow that we would all then become free from sin and live like they did in the Garden Of Eden? In that case wouldn't your system encourage one to be bad? Because by being bad one is compelled to experience goodness? 12/10/00
Response by NSJ Dave: The question, in my mind, is why does society tolerate acts from children which would be criminal in an adult.  If I committed just a small percentage of the criminal acts of the average bully I would be, deservedly, in jail.  We are talking about assault, battery, terrorism and stalking.  Why should the children be subject to this? 12/16/00

Response by Dr. Ingram Blakelock Phd. : I would like to respond to the bully discussion and particular NSJ Dave by saying. The reason that society allows children to commit crimes are many but here are the major points. To start off you have socialization, children at school are undergoing a
process called socialization which is designed to turn them into
responsible
members of society. The important point here is that children should be
allowed to make small mistakes, recieve punishment and then they learn
not
to do such things. School is a place of learning which in some ways is
designed to emulate adult life, but if you give children too strict
rules
you end up indoctrinating them and creating robots.

Next you have higher justice, children are supposed to be following
role
models in their lives. Teachers, adults (in general) and parents are
supposed to be applying punishment on unruly children. This is not
always
the case because sometimes schools cannot keep track of all their
students.

Finally, you cannot judge a child by their behavior in schools and
certainly
not in the earlier schools. I personally never bullied people but I was
not
the best student. I changed my attitudes when my teachers became more
competent and went from a bad student to the person I am today. When
people
get out of school they always change and these changes are usually for
the
best. If school was too much like real life children would never feel
the
change and would continue depending on a reward/punishment system which
they
picked up from school.
